...comparing babies to their biological parents' traits is the shade of the hair and eye. This is what I usually do. In this way, I can tell which characteristics that were been inherited. As for me, I resembled some of the looks of my old man and lovely mom.
What are your thoughts?

It is interesting. I was actually thinking politically the other day. I mean looks will be there. Some take after dad more, some take after mom more, but if both are right wing, will your kid be right wing too or is that just a matter of teaching?
My nephew seems to think different from his parents politically and maybe thats not normal but pretty sure it may be. Everyone I ever knew pretty much agreed with their parents politically.

@Shavkat I can see that, I suppose many households have opposites. I do think it is becoming less common. They used to say opposite attracts. I think what that was about is most family very rarely even talked politics. If they did it was usually the dominate person and the other person just did it to please their spouse.
Now I think people look for the same types of people who think the same way so or else they get divorced. Why America became the biggest divorce country in world if I remember right. Now many do not even get married, but if they do they find like minded people.
It may piss them off if their kids think different, but I always thought if you teach right, your kid will have a open mind and make the right decision. Maybe I am wrong.

@crossbones27 I do think that it can be influenced with their family's environment. Despite clashing with old man before, it was just healthy arguments to express our own opinionated statements.

i compare the baby with parents photo from the time when they were babies.

Unless the colors are outstanding, such as a unique shade of blue, I usually look at facial traits first. But I guess facial traits also have to stand out. While my parents' colors are very similar, I inherited from my father the most. Yet many people say I'm my mother's copy. Maybe only the shape of the eye can tell I'm my father's daughter, but it's very subtle. Then he's bald, if he still had hair it would be gray, so hair color won't help.
