The ponds and rivers in villages ensure there is water for cultivation

Bengal has many water bodies. While the big water bodies include the rivers they are many in number. In the villages there are small ponds and lakes whereby the agricultural land gets the water required for cultivation. Rice and many vegetables are grown in the villages.

The climate isn't right here to grow rice. They did try to grow it once in the northern areas but it requires a lot of water.

thanks Judy bengal has the fertile alluvial soil fit for growth of rice. In the northern states like uttar pradesh haryana wheat and sugarcane are grown
