FINALLY!!!! After eighty eight songs without nary an appearance by this guy, here he is. I’ll bet you were wondering, weren’t you, especially when he didn’t show up in the “H” part of the list (for “He Stopped Loving Her Today”). Personally, I don’t think that was even his best song about that subject. But that’s for another time. Here he is, at long last.
What Am I Worth - George Jones
Did you really think a list of favorite songs in country music would NOT include a George Jones song? Listen, I’m crazy, but I’m not nuts.
I had a hard time rummaging through the YouTube videos to find the Starday original recording. You see, ol’ Possum changed record labels about as often as I change socks, and every time he went to a new label they wanted a “newly-recorded” version of his earlier hits. For people like me, who grew up with a certain rendition, it’s frustrating.
This was Jones’ second charted single, following the success of “Why Baby Why.” It had the dreams of a young country singer: “I might get my name in the Hall of Fame, or even in the book of Who’s Who.” Oh, he did, all right. And then some.

Today’s rock song: “Undercover Angel”

American country music doesn’t tend to translate well into other countries. Never mind other languages.

@FourWalls it is difficult sometime to translate some phrases, but it goes both ways - some bosnian words are untranslatable
