Nostalgic Place Coming Down

Boise City's Ada County Highway Department is planning to widen the main drag here-- State Street( right outside where we live). This will mean that several iconic buildings will be coming down. One in particular is Merritt's Cafe. It was a truck stop type of restaurant. They were famous for their scones and have been there since 1975. It used to be open 24 hours a day and was a popular place to go after the bars closed. They were looking for a new location but I guess now they are just demolishing the place. They could build a more modern version but I guess we will see what they decide to do. It is rather sad to see them come down.

It is a shame to see iconic businesses be torn down in the name of progress.

@celticeagle I am in agreement with you since some iconic businesses are needed in towns.

That's a pity. I hate when the County takes over land occupied by a home or business. Have a good day.

I think they are utilizing the legal frontage but it means a lot of buildings have to remodel or just do a tear down. It's just sad to see.
