Another day of freedom! It’s above freezing (it was yesterday, too), so we should see an improvement in roads and decrease in “white death” (as a putting buddy calls it). While I enjoy this I’ll salute another great musician that we lost in 2024.
Tito Jackson
There really were other people in the Jackson Five than Michael.
Tito (with guitar in screen grab) is the second of the Jackson Five to pass away.
I didn’t listen to top 40/rock and roll in the late 60s/early 70s, but you simply could NOT avoid the Jackson Five. They were a phenomenon, the first black “boy band” to become successful. If you go back and look at teen magazines at the time, Michael was rivaling Donny Osmond. (Side note: Donny lost a brother, Wayne, earlier this month.
)
Of course, they grow up and things, including music styles, change. Still, the Jacksons managed to have hits through the end of the 70s. Then Michael sort of took over everything in music.
Tito had branched out, investing in antique cars. He was on a trip with his business partner when he had a heart attack in Gallup, New Mexico.
There’s a youthful innocence and fun to the Jackson Five’s music that will always be there.
Tito Jackson
Born Tariano Adaryll Jackson, October 15, 1953, Gary, Indiana
Died September 15, 2024, Gallup, New Mexico (heart attack) (age 70)
HALLS OF FAME: Rock and Roll, Grammy
Here’s one of my favorite Jackson Five songs, “Mama’s Pearl”:

@FourWalls Maybe it needs to become 'four score years and ten'.

That’s what happens when “ABC” and “The Love You Save” become the most played songs in their career.

I know of them but not him. Didn't know the song. I have heard some of Michael's songs as my sister was in love with him

There was a kid in my class in elementary school who sounded exactly like Michael, so I heard a lot of the Jackson Five then.
