89 Seconds to Midnight

It's another reset for the Doomsday Clock putting it at 89 seconds to midnight. The clock is a concept designed by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scietists to represent how close we are to global demise. It was last reset in January 2023 to just 90 seconds closer to midnight. It seems that the LA wildfires are raising concerns about the toxic pollutants these could be unleashing into the atmosphere. Daniel Holz, who is Chicago Universitie's chair on the security board, said Tuesday that "little progress has been made in reversing climate change, biological threats and advancements in disruptive technologies." Holz also said that this was worsened by conspiracy theories and disinformation. Leaders are also being produced who discount science and want to suppress free speech and human rights which only compromises discussions and finding any possible resolution. I had to post this. So true. One of Trump's first orders was to take us out of the Paris talks.
