I have been curious about cryptocurrency for some time now. Today I delved in to find out what it's all about. Pretty much as I thought but some interesting reading.
They are digital currency such as Bitcoin that is used as a alternative payment option. They are used in speculations or payments instead of using a government or bank.
There are all kinds from Meemcoin to $Trump and $Melania. Trump has a crypto company, World Liberty Financial that sells cryptocurrency with which he has made $58 million as of January 2025 in trading fees alone.
They are risky and unreliable. Rich people will buy large amounts, hype them up on social media to get the price up and then sell them when they peak. Critics are voicing ethical concerns and feel that they should be regulated and that elected officials should not be allowed to own them just like stock.
The black market uses this type of currency because it can't be tracked.
One website that sells them says they are meant as an expression of support, not as an investment opportunity.
Picture is from my collection.

I doubt that will happen because people are making to much $$. This is what that guy who had the Silk Road site on the Dark Web made his money. I wouldn't trust anyone using this type of currency. No way to track it so crooks can do their business with it.

I am not too sure about cryptocurrency and prefer to use what I know.

That's not good. I wouldn't use it if I didn't know it was secure.
