There was a time when I had a speech defect. Since the age of 5 till when I cleared my graduation; I had been a stammerer.
I could not even answer my roll call in the class and had to request some of my friends to answer it on my behalf.
The speech defect deprived me from many opportunities. It had made me timid and shy.
It took me years to overcome my speech defect.
Now I have realized stammering is not a physical problem. It's a mental problem caused by lack of self confidence.
Do you have anyone who stammers around you??

I thought, over it. Tried to speak the letters that made me stutter again and again. I started people telling people beforehand that I had the speech defect. I started mixing up with people; especially strangers and talk to them without trying to hide my speech defect. Gradually I found myself speaking fluently. It took me years though.

I used to have a friend who would stammer and stutter when he was trying to lie about something. It was kind of funny. Even the teachers finally caught on to his problem.

My problem was different. I could not answer my roll call let alone answer a question asked by my teacher. Also; I would stutter while talking to elderly persons. The only person who I could talk freely was my mother.

@DaddyEvil An elderly person advised me not to try to hide my speech defect. He suggested me to tell others beforehand that I stammer while speaking. This worked wonders. Now I have no problem with my speech.

@Shivram59 I'm surprised that actually helped you. But I'm glad it did!
