Decided to go get Blood work done on Monday. Tom and I went to the AmVet and had Hamburgers. I played the pull tab machine..won some lost most of it back. But several of Tom's friends came in and I met a couple of ladies. They seemed to know me pretty good even though I had never met them. Tom talks about me there...so they said...the one lady told me he talked good about me. Had a really nice time. Coming home though, we ran into backed up traffic. Apparently the St. Andrews area had their Kid's Mardi Gras parade today, and the adult version tomorrow. We finally made it to the house.
As I was getting out of the truck, I saw the neighborhood cat, Blackie. He just sat there looking at me. I asked if he was hungry and he cried, so I went to get his food, and was feeding him.
For the first time he didn't cower away from me..he waited. I filled his bowl with dry food, and turned away to close up the bag. Blackie came to the bowl and started eating even though I was still close to the bowl. I reached down and pet him for the very first time. He let me lightly stroke his head, but twitched away a little after 3 strokes. Made my day. He has always been skittish and not wanting to be near me. But 2 days ago, I was in the garage and I heard him crying. Blackie likes to be heard when he speaks. I am pretty sure the neighbors heard him. LOL Anyway, I got his food and went out and filled his bowl, and took his water bowl to fill with water. So, I think he sees that I am not wanting to hurt him, and I will feed him. Took 2 weeks to get my Sam to let me touch him, so I know I have to be patient. I am so hoping he lets me close so I can tend to his sore on his neck. It doesn't look infected, but can't get close enough yet to really get a good look at it.

Glad he is starting to trust you. Many cats are shy of strangers at first.
