Stranded at the car park!

I did an overnight shift and came back to the open car park to find that my car didn't start. No turning over and no clicks. It's an old car and I was worried it was a major issue. I got home on a Uber and came back later to work by taxi too. After finishing work, I called the RAA roadside assist - the call outs are free as I am a member. I was really lucky as they had someone working on a car at the same carpark! He was with me in 15 min and changed the battery which burnt a little hole in my pocket. Anyway, there was nothing else wrong with the car and I got home safe and sound. Jumpstarting the car would have been only a temporary solution as the battery didn't have any life left - it was apparently 5 years old. Have you ever been stranded because of car trouble?

In the past due to an old auto, I did have trouble with my former auto would not start due to a defective starter.

That would have been a more expensive fix wasn't it.

@pitstop It was very expensive to repair the broken starter.

I'm glad you got service quickly and got your car running! I have broken down out of town before. Luckily my vehicle was still under warranty and I got it towed to nearest dealer soon. The part needed had to be ordered, but luckily, the friends I was going to visit offered to come and get me and offered to let me spend the night.

Yes. Very thankful. Home is only 15 min away, so the cab rides were not too expensive.

We have from time to time. At least it was only the battery so I guess it could have been worse.

Yes. It would have been awful if it had to get towed for repairs and been held up for a few days.
