birthday delay is a blessing

Dale will be 80 in May (I can't believe it!) and we planned to celebrate at our granddaughter's house in Charlotte. They just moved in, but the renovations won't be finished by then, so we'll wait until probably the summer. I was disappointed since 80 is a big milestone, but we found out there's a major golf tournament that week at Quail Hollow near their house. So the traffic will be horrendous, I'm sure. Dale and I will celebrate on his actual birthday, probably take him out for a nice dinner. But I have no clue what to buy him. We're not wealthy, but we're blessed to have most everything we need and a lot of what we want. Plus, he's just really hard to buy for. Anyway, I'm sure glad we didn't go to Kristin's during that golf tournament. They're not only renovating, they have to buy furniture. So, it's always good to have a bed when we go, lol. Plans can always, usually, be changed, often for the better, right?

I'm sure, whatever you plan, Dale will be happy spending time with you. I'm glad he doesn't act like he's that old. The way we feel and the way we act can make all the difference as we get older.

@1creekgirl Very nice! I always think I can work like I did years ago, too.

If he didn't have back and leg pain, he'd be like a man much younger. He still thinks he can work like he did forty years ago.

I know how difficult it can be to buy a gift for your loved one. He probably doesn't need anything and has no desires for anything special. I hope his 80th is special regardless.

I don’t blame you for wanting to avoid the traffic. That’s why I leave town for the Kentucky Derby. Happy birthday to Dale!!!

I'm going to try, but he's so hard to buy for. Maybe a short trip or something like that.

@1creekgirl We get more difficult to buy for as the years go by. I’m just happy with a bit of peace and quiet.
