Jack fruits are still not ready for harvesting but they are OK when it comes to cooking them raw We took a small jack fruit and did a dish today. It was cut into tiny bits after removing the outer skin. The seeds were added too The stuff was cooked adding a sliced onion and once boiled coconut that was blended with the spicy masala was added and it was let to simmer for a while. Salt, sugar and tamarind was added to taste. Tempering with mustard, garlic and oil gave it the taste to remember. I will keep some for the guests that will be here for lunch tomorrow When steamed that will taste as good as new. They were supposed to come today but have postponed their trip for tomorrow.

Jack fruit curry and jackfruit spicy kebab and kofta are my absolute favourite. When I make non veg biryani for my family, I make jackfruit equivalent for myself..and my husband and daughters enjoy this too as much as their chicken biryani.

@allknowing We don't use much coconut in our preparation except for the chutney and few rice items where I follow south Indian recipes. Sorry, I am not the right person to suggest.

That sounds absolutely delicious! Cooking jackfruit when it’s still raw brings out such a unique flavor, and the way you described the dish—especially with the coconut masala and tempering—makes it sound like a real treat. I’m sure your guests will love it, even more so knowing it was made with such care. It’s great that it keeps well too—steamed leftovers often taste even better as the flavors settle in. Here in the Philippines, we have a similar dish called “ginataang langka,” which means “young jackfruit cooked in coconut milk” in English. It’s also savory and creamy and often a favorite in local households. Your version reminds me so much of that—comforting, hearty, and full of flavor. Hope your lunch turns out wonderful tomorrow!

Sounds interesting, I have bought jackfruit in a package with barbecue sauce that tasted like pork. Jackfruit isn't common here. You have to go on a special mission to find it.

I have some shredded jackfruit in the fridge. I will add that and that will reduce the effect of extra coconut

It was a mess. My maid did not tell me it was too tender with no fruit and only tendrils. I will not use the dish.
