Mark Zuckerberg says it'll be end of smartphones soon

Really how long are we going to use the smartphones that we are using now? Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg says that it'll soon be the end of smartphones. In around 6 years from now that'll be that. It's like the last years for smartphones. A newer technology of smart glasses will replace the devices in our hands. What do you think? Is that really going to happen? 6 years from now and we will be without these devices that we are using now.

I don't see smart glasses being popular.

True. It'll be like making us wear the glasses when if we want it or not. It'll be kind of a burden to carry it always, especially putting it on. If I were to choose, I'd love to stay with the current scenario and not go to smart glasses.

I think Mark has a vivid imagination. I daresay the technology exists now and it will be used in different ways in the future but I cannot envisage it ever replacing the smart phone. So the end of Smartphones, no. But the start of a new type of technology, yes

@abhi_bangal I think he just likes the sound of his own voice to be honest.

@Ineeddentures Hahaha... That's a good one. Self flattering. I think that'll be harsh to say. But proposing something new years before and then that becoming a reality.. Well, who won't like?

There are many senior citizens whom I know personally. And who don't use a smartphone. I think very few people in your generation use a smartphone today. Most of them call us, I don't know but what names, but they feel like we are glued to a strange device and what we find in here to be so engaging. Well, not their fault. They weren't in this technology circle. So obviously, it would not interest them that much.

@allknowing That's so cool ma'm. You might have read other responses where there is another MyLotter @Ineeddentures. He is I saw a senior citizen like you and comes from Scotland. He is as active as you and I really wonder what strength comes to you from inside that still guides you at this age. Actually, I should not say, at this age because in one of my responses to @Ineeddentures, I said that age is just a number. Coming to you, when you said I don't use any smartphone, it was at that time that I suspected you might be using a desktop or a laptop for your other activities apart from using at least a button phone. I'd like to see your videos. By the way, I also used to use YTMM a few years back when I used to make videos. But not anymore now. Because I've other responsibilities that don't give me the time.

I may or may not even be here by then, so it's not on my radar to worry about, lol.

Oh my God! Why are you saying like that? We never know which technology might hit us the next day. Just be positive

We are getting the feedback for 2020 right here right now in 2025... LOL... We are so in unison that really it feels like what Mark Zuckerberg is saying is really a world of fantasy. Even if the tech is there, or even if it evolves in a few years, still it'll not be easy for them to make people use it.

I am not sure I see this being practical. Then again, there are lots of technologies that have come around I definitely didn't see coming, so...who knows what the future holds?

This is not feasible, to be honest what Mark Zuckerberg is saying. I find it too much to digest that there won't be any smartphones at all. After reading the responses, I feel like it's a feedback to what's going to happen in 5-6 years from now. Yes, we don't know what the future holds. Anything and everything is possible. But there's a kind of saturation in tech, I think. And to break the mentality and make people use an entirely different gadget...uumm... Na!

@abhi_bangal At the same time, throughout history we HAVE seen many things go away. 8-track tapes, cassette players, regular stereos, pay phones, VCRs, Camcorders, and the list goes on. So, who knows? Even the PC has largely been replaced by laptops and tablets.

@abhi_bangal I already wear glasses, so I am not sure how this would work for me. Not that I have any interest in it in any event.

I think many of us are of the same view as yours. Today, our smartphones are smart enough to fulfill what we expect out of them. And it's so easy to use as well. Shifting to a new technology might be a bit difficult. The change may not be smooth.

Yeah too difficult. We are all so accustomed to mobile phones, that I really find it difficult for that to happen. The first thing is that we have got used to it and it's very difficult to brake the mentality. It's such an easy tech.
