Weddings aren't family reunions

I got married a year ago and I felt bad that some of our guests didn't show up. They didn't even contact us ahead that they're not coming even when we sent then an RSVP. I had a lot of guests in mind, but we prioritized our families and relatives because we don't want our parents to feel bad about it. Weddings are a big thing in our country and people can even hold grudges if they feel they were not invited nor considered.

With the effect of social media, I guess some people became distant. They tend to compare things and get depressed in the long run.

@eLsMarie It is more to do with sspending time where they feel achieved compared to being in a family environment

@allknowing I guess so also. Maybe they no longer find our company beneficial or comforting for them.

We also have a marriage a big family union here but we don't expect everyone attends it as it may not be their priority.

True but they could have at least told us in advance so there's a chance for us to cancel seats.

And we didn't even demand that much. We're only after of their participation. Even gifts weren't required.

That is why I never got married in a church. I just went to the Judge at the court house and got married.

If I had a choice, I'd love to be as intimate as possible, but our culture says otherwise.
