Of late, my kitchen is under attack...looks like its breeding season for cockroaches and the entire floor, slabs and cabinets are under seize. I have been using normal sprays, but it looks impossible to combat with these creatures. What do you use??

I stop them. Stomp stomp stomp. But if they are two little, and too many, for constructive stomping, I buy some kind of roach killer and spray it all over the place.

Luckily infestations of cockroaches are few and far between here in rural North East Scotland. I don't think I have seen one single cockroach in the time we have loved here, 8 years now. But reading your post ked me to this An interesting read which I do hope you will find helpful.

This is a timely discussion for me and I am going to keep a watch on this. Because I am also facing the same problem in my house. But what I have heard from some people is... I don't know how to share this or how to say this. You can call this superstition or whatever you want. I have heard that if men shave their beard in the house, then there are more chances that cockroaches will breed more in number. This looks stupid to say but I don't know if this is true or not. But after reading your discussion that is the first thought that came to my mind. Apart from that I think this summer days in India are quite beneficial for the breeding of cockroaches. There number gross very fast these days. Apart from that the kitchen is one thing where they find a lot of things to eat. And that is the reason why you will find cockroaches more in your kitchen rather than in any other room of your house. What we can do at the most, is not keep eatables within their reach. Otherwise, if that happens they get used to coming over and over again at the same place. Apart from that whenever possible keep the remaining food inside your fridge or better finish it off so that, there are no leftovers which they can smell and attack your kitchen again.
