Ahh. While everyone heads out of town I’m enjoying my usual Sunday lunch at my usual spot. I’m also enjoying my favorite thing: annoying y’all with another song that you haven’t heard in a long time (or haven’t heard at all).
Here’s the third and final “bad” song of the list of songs from 50 years ago.
Bad Time - Grand Funk
Here’s something interesting on Picky Wedia: all of Grand Funk Railroad’s biggest hits came under the name Grand Funk, after they dropped Railroad from the band name. After they returned Railroad to the moniker they never had another top 40 hit. Steve Goodman was CORRECT in “City of New Orleans:” we really have “the disappearing railroad blues.”
Oh, I goofed earlier: according to the list, this did NOT hit #1. It peaked at #4. (I probably remember it hitting #1 on a local radio station list…ah, those were the days, when you had three radio stations that each had “top 10/20/40” lists…all with a different #1 song!
) But this was their last hit.
I was new to rock and roll in 1975, but I bought this 45! It still provides great memories from the summer of ‘75.

Not bad for a song with “bad” in the title!
I think my favorite song of theirs is “I’m Your Captain/Closer to Home.”

There will be a blue song later, but you might have a yellow funk by then.
