I've been to the big Tesco again today. I went on my own again. It was nice weather again, but not warm enough to go without a coat, so I wore my fleece again. I posted a request for a UK getaways brochure first. Then I got rid of the soft recycle again. Surprisingly didn't have much soft recycle to get rid of today. Don't know why that was. But anyway, then I went up on the lift, and the first thing I got when I got into the main shop was 8 first class stamps from the desk. £14 something they cost.
Then I went to look at the magazines and I got an Artists and Illustrators magazine and a Doctor Who Special Edition magazine: 20 Years of the Ninth Doctor. I can't believe it's been 20 years since Doctor Who came back in 2005! I
After that I got 2 bottles of water, and then I went and got some vitamin D tablets for my Mum. I also got some MenoHerb tablets for me when I could see them. Then I went and got some pads for my Mum.
Next I went to the fruit and veg section, and I got some strawberries, lettuce and bananas for my Mum, and some blueberries, spring onions, a red pepper and a red grapefruit for me. I also got some soy milk with no sugars from the side.
Then I went and got 2 bottles of milk for my Mum, my vegan yoghurts and some puddings for my Mum and Syd for their dinner on Sunday. After that it was straight to the vegan and ready meals isle. I got a pizza and 3 packets of meat free bites for me. For my Mum and Syd I got 2 roast chicken dinners and 2 fish pies. My Mum had crossed toad in the hole off her shopping list because she didn't think she'd have room in the freezers.
After that I went to the end of the isle and got some chicken and bacon sandwich spread. (Syd had decided to tell her he didn't like the tuna and sweetcorn one!) I thought maybe coleslaw would be there to, but it wasn't, so I had to double back to the cheese and butter isle and I got a small tub of coleslaw from there.
Next I went and got some soy sauce for my Mum (the reduced salt version), and then I went to the canned isle and got a chow mein pot noodle for Syd. Then it was off to the cakes. My Mum wanted a tub of mini muffins from the freshly baked section, so I got some choc chip ones. Then I got some strawberry doughnuts in a box (these were the long ones, not the round ones with the hole in them.)
Then I went and got some crisps and some pringles, and then it was off to the teas and coffees isle. I got some love, corn for me, which I haven't had in ages, and also some rice/corn cakes, which I also haven't had in ages. I also managed to get a large bag of mixed nuts and raisins. Nora King, who used to come to Church, was up ahead, and I was trying to avoid her, because if she gets you talking you could be there for ages! I managed to get some vegan galaxy hot chocolate without her seeing, and then I creeped passed her while her back was turned and got Syd some chocolate digestives and some wagon wheels, and then quickly dodged into the next isle, which was the seasonal isle. From this isle I got a packet of fudge for Syd.
After that it was off to the frozen section. I looked for some vegan magnum ice lollies, but I couldn't see any, and where they used to be, there was something else. But I got some peas for my Mum, and then I went into the other frozen isle. My Mum wanted either duck legs in orange sauce or lamb shanks, but not both because of not having enough room in the freezers, and she said her preference would be the duck legs. They had both in stock, so I got the duck legs. Then I got her a box of 10 cod fish fingers.
Next it was off to the cleaning supplies isle. I saw at the end of the isle, that Nora King was just going to the till and was about to put her shopping on the conveyor, so I thought I'd take my time so that I didn't catch up with her! I was only really going for some washing up liquid, but I decided to get some laundry products too, to use up a bit more time. I got some colour catcher sheets, some limescale prevention tablets, some Tesco own brand hand wash liquid, in the pink bottle, and some Comfort Pure fabric conditioner, but I didn't know if I'd got the right one because the bottle looked different. (It was the right one, they'd just redesigned the packaging). That was aswell as the washing up liquid.
When I went to the till, Nora and her daughter were just packing up at the till two down from the one I was on, then Nora went and sat on a bench just opposite my till while her daughter finished off. She noticed me as I was putting my stuff on the conveyor! Fortunately, her daughter finished her packing before the guy infront of me had payed, and Nora sort gestured and enquired without shouting how my Mum was, and I nodded and said, She's OK. Nora said, She's OK? and I nodded again. Then they went, which was a bit of a lucky escape!
I packed my groceries away and payed. It came to just over £157. It was still only 3:45pm when I went and sat on a bench! I had three quarters of an hour to wait for Syd to come and fetch me! So, even though I didn't have a book to swap, I went to the Tesco book swap and looked at some of the books. There was a book by Paul O'Grady called Country Life, and I didn't know whether my Mum had already got it, so I had that and a book about healthy eating for me. There were a lot of Guide Dogs for the Blind bookmarks around, because they were collecting for that charity, so I took 2 of those and put one each in the front of the books. Then I put a £1.50 donation in the collection tin, seeing as I had no books to swap.
Then I went back to the bench and read a bit of the book about healthy eating. At 4:25pm I went back down on the lift and waited on a bench in the undercover car park for Syd to come and fetch me. A lady with burgundy hair who works in Tesco came and sat on the other end of the bench. She immediately got out a cigarette and lit it! I tried to keep looking in the other direction so that her disgusting fumes wouldn't drift into my face, and prayed Syd would hurry up. Fortunately, he did, and I got away from that woman as fast as I could!
We put the bags into the boot of Syd's car and went home. When we got home I gave my Mum her change, shopping list and club card, and then I gave her the Paul O'Grady book. Turns out she did have it after all. I said, Never mind, I can always take it back next week!
Then I unpacked the groceries and put them away. Then I had my dinner and watched some telly.
Tomorrow I'm hoping to go down town because there's some things going on to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of VE Day. There's a craft market by Minster Pool from 10:00am - 4:00pm, and then in the Market square from 1:00pm - 4:00pm there's music from the 1940's, vintage fish and chips and a pop-up cafe. They are going to have chairs and tables out, so it's going to be like a street party I guess, and the guys from Kindness Rocks have painted some rocks with Union Jacks and other VE Day celebration things, and they will be on the tables. The idea is to either take them and hide them for someone else to find, or just to keep them. Also, in the Guildhall from 10:00am - 4:00pm there's going to be an exhibition of photos and memorabilia from the era.
What have you lot been getting up to today?
I hope you are all well.
Have a great night.
Nos da.

@sharonelton I shopped at a supermarket in Greece today and I’ve attached a photo. Much nicer than Asda.

Yes, I know what you mean. I was unsure if I was getting the right thing, but when I got home and compared it with the old one, the wording was all the same, so I know I'd got the right thing.
