Woodpecker damages car windows in Massachusetts

A woodpecker in Rockport Massachusetts is causing panic since the animal has been using his beak to vandalize the windows or side view windows.
Rockport resident Janelle Favaloro shared an image of a woodpecker smashing a window on autos in her neighborhood on Saturday May 10 on social media.
Some residents have covered up the windows with plastic wrap or sweaters so that the woodpecker will not vandalize their autos.
Animal experts claim that since this is mating season, woodpeckers see their reflection on a mirror of a window of an auto, they think that another woodpecker is taking over their area.

We have birds here who attack the mirror of cars too, possibly for the same reason. It is hard to find a solution here, as the solutions found by residents there seem to be desperate trys, at best.
