I prefer caffeinated coffee and my mom prefers decaffeinated coffee. I will drink mine instant because it is faster to make and I do not drink a whole pots worth the coffee. My mom likes ground coffee prepared drip style. Now I will drink drip if I am at a restaurant, Starbucks, etc. or at someones house and that is what they have, no problem. I also just generally drink coffee when I am trying to stay awake. But lately it hasn't been helping me wake up in the morning or staying up a bit later. So I thought there was something wrong with me. I was chatting with a friend the other day and she told me that it does the same thing to her. When i called the doctors office this morning to reschedule my appointment, I said something to here followed by, "Excuse me, I haven't had my coffee yet......... I don't know why I said that, coffee lately doesn't do me any good!." She gasped and she said, " Me neither! I even changed brands and that didn't help either!" She also said that she thinks maybe they made changes in coffee. Does this happen to you?

When my husband was home, he would make me a cup of decaf instant coffee in the afternoon which I would have with a muffin or donut. Now I don't have any coffee at all. Sigh.

Coffee is my specialist subject. I have consumed all forms of coffee in great quantities over many years. Started at 8 years old, Maxwell House. Anyway now we use capsules, I use Nespresso Capsules from Denmark, very very strong and also instant Rich Roast. Yvonne uses Instant Rich Roast and her Nescafé Dolce Gusto capsules. My.coffee would give.you the boost you need, trust me. Each capsule cost £0.10 from Denmark and I order 500 at a time. 500 lasts me about 60 days I use 8 per day. I think you need to change brand and strength every so often. I have a filter machine as well which I sometimes use for a week at a time.

The nurse said she had changed brands and it was doing the same thing! Capsules? How do they work?

@dfollin Capsules. Well it's quite easy All you need is a machine suitable for the capsules you buy. Put the capsule in and the machine does the rest. Reason I went to capsules was my bean to cup machine broke. So a capsule machine was next best thing. We have 2 and a filter machine and use a jar coffee also

Maybe it is like medicine. We build up a tolerance to pain meds so it takes more and more of it to get the effect it used to. Maybe your body built up a tolerance, and now you need stronger doses of caffeine to keep you going.

Could be but I used to only drink one or two cups a day. Sometimes just a half a cup.

I only drink instant coffee. I haven't noticed any difference really with how it affects me.

I haven't either! I do love the drip coffee from Starbucks, but I don't see the difference either.
