We don't have doorknobs, we have door handles!

One thing that was different about moving to Israel is that we have door handles instead of knobs.
This prevents the problem of scraping your knuckles if the handle is place close to the door frame.
If you want, you can go to the hardware store and buy doorknobs, but I found that I don't miss them.
Which other countries use door handles?

I noticed, much after the fact, that old British shows had handles on the doors instead of knobs. Now the handles are recognized as “ADA [Americans with Disabilities Act] compliant,” and more places (especially public places like hotels) have them here. My house is old, so it’s still door knobs.

You can get either here. The handles are recommended for aged homes. They are much easier to operate.

Well here in the USA, some home have lever handles instead of door knobs. It's especially good for senior citizens who can't grip as well.
