Above everything, I will always stand behind peace, family or no family, money or no money, friends or no friends, peace. Cases of domestic violence are on the rise in our hood. It pains me to hear a poor woman scream for help as the ruthless husband pounds her with heavy blows. Cases of children also being beaten senseless for simple childhood mistakes like losing money are also common. I think the best way to solve domestic problems is via dialogue and not violence. Violence can cause injury, deaths, marriage breakups and arrests! Dialogue doesn’t have any regrettable outcome.

Domestic violence turns family life into a hell. A few years back the in laws of a girl killed the girl. But they could not hide the offence and were sentenced to jail.

I used to work for a woman who regularly beat her mentally retarded son. I remember his screams. They haunt me. The outcome was you would expect. He is now violent and cannot stay in any "special" school for more than a week or two. He physically attacks the other children.

As a survivor of Domestic Violence, I agree that dialogue is the best case scenario for this type of situation but usually the abuser can't be reasoned with. Most victims are too scared to leave or speak out due to fear of what they might do not only to them, but their family as well. As far as abused children go, the best thing you can do in a situation like that is to report it immediately, and hope for the best. Most of them will not seek help for themselves either out of fear or shame. It's sad that these things go on so often, in so many families. Families that you would never even suspect of.
