I happened on something different today

So, I was at my local shopping center today, and while I was walking to Subway I passed the ABC store. (Alchohol Beverage control) there was a lady setting up in there with liquor samples. I have never seen that, and truthfully was kind of surprised it was allowed, but I guess as long as you are of age, it is fine. I tried some miniscule thimble sized glasses, half full of things from the a distillery in Middleburg. I bet they do a big business the rich people are there...I mean like ultra rich like the wife of head of BET network, Sissy Spacek, Robert Duvall isn't far from there..the Smothers Brothers used to have a horse farm there. Anyway, I tried some fairly expensive liquors that I would probably only buy if I had a windfall. One thing in common they were all strong..especially the Abinsthe the lady giving the samples gave me an education about it.

Oh my god, Absinthe is really really strong. I quite liked it when I was given a drink of it. Wouldn't drink very much of it though as I bet it leaves the consumer with a sore head the next day

I've never seen liquor samples anywhere ! I wonder if anyone would dare to go back for multiple samples - you know how people can be with free things - a truly happy hour .

Tasting high-end liquor, especially in tiny, almost ceremonial amounts feels a bit like being let into a secret club or maybe there is a secret club there

I haven't seen that here although we were invited to a 'tasting' in a liquor store once.
