The world narrowly escaped a nuclear war.
The questions that come to my mind since then, I will present
Questions to Indian government
1. Aren't we a democracy?
2. If we are democracy, aren't we supposed to be ruled by people's will?
3. If Raja Hari Singh cleverly tried to align with India, since there was a revolt in Kashmir, with his subjects turning against him, did we use power to suppress that revolt? How is it democracy?
4. How far in the history would we go to identify what belongs to us? After all, Afghanistan was once part of India during the times of Mahabharat - GANDHAR NARESH ..KING OF KANDAHAR. So should we go that far, or should we accept the independence day as the cut off date? For peace?
5. How much are we willing to spend to defend the nation on this side? We have a unique position. We have skirmishes in the Northeast with China, in the North and North West, Pakistan, now to the east, with Bangladesh, and to the South, with Shri Lanka. Hey, all these are neighbors........yet we are not like the US and Canada, or Australia and New Zealand with them.
6. Explain the difference between going to the UN with our issue, and sending delegations to various countries to explain our stand.
7. Why is plebiscite objectionable? If there has been infiltration, whose fault is it?
To Pakistan
1. Even if we leave Kashmir, its unlikely you can do much for it, because whatever revenues you generate here, you will use up for quelling the revolt in Baluchistan, isn't it? As a matter of fact, you all will go a step further, and try to gain more territory. That is because it is your army that is yearning to prove to you that it is worth some respect. You all did have Bangladesh as part of the country, and it chose to be independent.
2. Giving shelter to terrorists is ensuring proliferation of crimes. They are into drug trafficking, human trafficking, arms trafficking etc. Does it not send the next generation into a mess. Is salvaging an army's pride more important than the next generation's life?
To the separatists
1. I feel for you. Nevertheless, there are some valid reasons compelling you need to align with India or Pakistan. You need protection, and also many of the things India produces.
I feel plebiscite should be completed as Jawaharlal Nehru wanted. The UN is there for a reason. While the leaders will receive the delegations, it will be difficult for them to relate to what is being explained, since they do not have all the facts. Unlike them, the UN has a complete dossier, which it reads before it opines.
And by making ICJ and UN more powerful we help ourslelves not becoming a victim of a nuclear threat.
I want peace. I feel by discussing it, rather than avoiding the topic altogether, we Indians are not doing the world any favor.
One way to let people decide is to let the UN have its way.
That would be democratic way. To find out infiltrators will be then the UN's headache.
We have lost loved ones, and continue to do so. Those who give refuge to terrorists, may not miss the lives lost.
So dialogue is the only way to solve this, I feel.
Nuclear power should make us mature but we continue to fight like school going kids.

The world should have a say when nuclear nations are going on war. The reason is, if they use nuclear arsenal, the winds can affect populations of other nations too. Remember Chernobyl? And the Japanese nuclear reactor damaged during earthquake and tsunami.
While nuclear reactor is for positive purposes and earthquakes and tsunamis are hard to predict, bombs are triggered in the heat of the moment by one or more persons....for no good reason than destruction. That is kinda fate of many directly or indirectly involved being left in the hands of a person who loses his balance.
We do need a larger mechanism to control, and the UN and ICJ need more fangs for it. We also need to honor their diktat as individual nations are too engrossed in self issues, so even if we send delegates, they will just spare time, to listen to the delegation but will not do homework as it would be costly affair for them to do that, and why should they waste their resources to get to the truth?
Silly and stupid idea, if you ask me.

If any nation resorts to nuclear war the entire world will be affected in one way or another.
