As most of you know we transferred to a larger apartment therefore we transferred our utility services as usual. I have moved before to another place in the same city before and have never had this happen!
We moved on February 8th and in March I received a notification fron our towns water company that I had not paid my bill I called them and was told I should check with the card I paid it with because they don't have it. I did check and it was paid. I called back and they found it credited to my us account. They transferred my payment to my new account.
Later in March I received an email from the apartment complex saying that they are not paying my power bill to quit having it sent to them. I called the power company and talked to them about it and was told that the apartment complex never informed them that someone had moved in this apartment. Yet I had already told them that we were. They said they saw that but the apartment complex needs to inform them of any changes, such as move in or out stuff.
Then in April in our power bill it showed that we had not paid $70.23 of the previous months bill! I looked at my online banking to find that it was paid just like I thought. I called the power company and talked to them for an hour and a half.. Told the billing department agent at the begining of the call why I was calling and asked him to check if it had got creditted to my former bill. He kept looking and saying that he didn't see it. He asked how I paid for it. I told him on the phone with their third party billing company. Then he said , "Ok I see, maybe you forgot to mail the check!"
I asked him what he was talking about, that I told him I paid it via the phone billing source that they use! He just said Oh and put me on hold said he was going to talk to a supervisor. He came back to the phone and said he was assured that if I paid this $71 today I would not be over paying!
We went on for another 15 minutes, me saying her needs to check their third party billing company because I don't have it, my bank doesn't and you don't and they are who is left! He then said,"Oh no, they would never do that!"
Then the man say's,"Oh I see what happened, it must of got put on your previous account!"
I was super mad now! I yelled," WHAT DO YOU THINK WE HAVE BEEN TALKING ABOUT FOR AN HOUR? GEEZ LOUISE!" I got his name! Then I called my bank and they sent me a copy of my statement showing it was paid! I mailed it to the power company two weeks ago.
This morning I woke up with a Migrain headache, took some Tylenol and went back to bed hoping to get rid of it. A little while later I get a notification from the power company that I am behind that $71 and if I don't pay it today then my electric will be turned off!
Still laying in bed I called and the recording did the usual stuff asked for my account number or phone number attached to the account. I didn't have my account number memorized so I gave them my phone number three times and they couldn't find my account. I got transferred to a live person and I gave it to her again and was told that my account couldn't be found she needs my account number. I told her that I didn't feel good and was in bed, but I just got a notification that my service was going to be turned off. She said that was the only way she could find my account. So I get up and go get the number out of my desk then she asked me if ********** was my phone number and I said yes!

Then I repeated why I was calling and she looked and said it's on your previous account I will have it transferred. That took her 1 minute not an hour and a half!
In my almost 64 years I have never had this happen from moving!

GEEZLOUISE! is right. I would have a major headache, too. Sounds like a real mess up between the complex and the company. Idiots.
I'm glad you got it taken care of. Took a woman to see the account and take care of it. Sounds like that guy was not working with all his tools.

@dfollin .......This world has really gone to the waste basket in so many ways. Customer service is just one of so many areas.

I hate when that kind of stuff happens. It was like Spectrum/Kinetic taking 5 months and hours on the phone to have my phone number changed over. It makes me wonder about the way they run their businesses and what kind of people they hire.

@dfollin It was totally ridiculous and cost me a lot of money paying two bills for the same services.

@LindaOHio Yes, that is why I told the power company I wasn't paying the bill I had already paid!
