Lame Excuses

I am one of those that do not agree that drugs and drinking (to excess) is a disease. I believe it is a choice a person makes, not a disease. Calling it a disease is a crutch to me. People would say that is a non compassionate view, but if I have to face life stone cold sober, head on using no drugs or drink, then anyone can. Hardship is not an excuse to use. Alright do you disagree or agree? Or something else?

I tend to agree with you most of the time. There are situations where I don't find that to be the case. I think that some people have more of a tendency to drink or use than others. It is in their genes. Not all people have a disease and it is a crutch. But, that isn't true all of the time.
