Safety Online

Before we got the Internet we had Bulletin Board Services; BBS. We'd connect our computers to our phones and have it dial the Server. We communicate with each other, play games.
It was a small community and we knew each other in RL.
When the Internet was available we logged on, often using our nicks. Our real names were confined to our office and personal stuff but we joined everything else with our nicks, creating email accounts in those names.
So when I get an email in one of my nick accounts telling me about money I received or some package somewhere, I don't have to ponder, I know it's a scam.
Just by using a nick I have protected myself from every kind of scam on line.

I remember dial up service. I missed my grandson's birth because I was online at the time and missed the call.

Everyone has to be so careful in the real world and online from scammers.

Actually, you haven't. I don't use my real name online, but there's such a thing as public record. scammers aren't just targetting e-mail. They will send fake pop-ups, phone calls, and other things. phishing scams still happen, too. So you need to understand some rules of thumb, and know how to best protect yourself.

I make sure to block all scammers and have a Spam folder in my email that collects them and I just delete them all,

I ignore everything that says I have been sent money, am due money, packages to pick up, etc etc.
So glad to hear that nobody could scam you
