Evening's Winding Down

For the last couple of weeks I have adopted a new routine in the evenings. I turn off all screens at ten PM. Most of the time I achieve this, but sometimes I get so wrapped up in a film that deadline slips by.
I aim to be tucked up in bed around 11 and that is proving much easier to manage.
In that hour from screens off to bedtime I mostly read for a while, but sometimes like to rest my eyes and listen to audio books or radio plays.
From the picture you can see I like Dr. Who and its spin offs, like Counter Measures, set in the 60s, or Jago and Litefoot, based in Victorian England as well as original adventures for several of the Doctors. Blake’s 7 is another popular listen. The Scarifyers is set between the wars and involves the chaps from MI13 investigating weird and ghostly goings on.
The one I like to dip into frequently is the BBC Radio 4 series of ‘History of the World in 100 objects’ 15 minute chats about historical objects in the British Museum, that trace human history.
Anyone else out there relax and unwind with spoken word tales?

I just want to give my opinion on Dr Who first.
Who ever writes this shite should be shot.
It's way too complicated now and a far cry from Dr Who and his companions versus the bad guys like the Cybermen and the Daleks.
Jodie Whittaker I thought was the worst Doctor ever until the dude who just turned into an older Billie Piper took over.
Dr Who now might appeal to a younger generation and that is a good thing, but it's just not my gig
David Tennant and the boy Capaldi were the last good Doctors ,
Not just because they are Scottish, because they were proper Doctors.
Did you see the boy last night wearing a blue dress and in one episode dancing with a bloke he looked like he was going to get jiggy with.
I haven't seen anything like that since Barrowman in Torchwood
Counter Measures is something I did not know about until reading your post and it is most likely something I would like listening to.
I will seek it out.
I have never listened to an Audio Book or Podcast.
I may suggest to my wife that we try the audio book rather than watch a video on Prime even if it's only one night per week.

I prefer classic Dr Who and gave up on the renewed version mid-way through Tennet's run. Jargo and Litefoot appeared in the Tom Baker story, Talons of Weng-Chiang and the Counter Measure team appear in Remembrance of the Daleks , with Slyvester McMoy

Classic Dr Who was second to nothing on a Saturday evening after getting back to my grandfathers house after the football
Hartnell , Broughton and Pertwee were awesome.

@Ineeddentures I still remember getting home in time, on a Saturday, to watch the latest adventure. Don't really remember Hartnell, but I liked all the others. I might one of the few who liked Paul McGann in his one outing as the Dr

@JudyEv Most libraries in the UK lend ebooks and audio books. They also lend them out online, not sure how that works, but my mum swears by it! I must confess that I listen to audio books in bed and have the timer to switch off as I also fall asleep

Nope, I usually read a book a couple of hours or so before I go to sleep
