Nutmegs

We have a nutmeg tree that yields during the rainy season.
The fruits drop down when they are ready. We need to extract them from the shell and dry them - mace and nut separately.
We find it difficult to preserve the mace inspite of drying it as it develops mildew which is rejected by shops.
Both nutmegs and the mace fetch a good price but the mildew on the mace results in it being rejected.

Does the mace and the nutmeg come from the same tree?

Suprised it is red, I have only seen brown associated with nutmeg. I guess that pic is the outer seed pod.

@allknowing Oh well they usually just sell it ground here in a brown powder or you can buy the seed pods which are brown. Maybe you could get mace like that in an Asian market.

@snowy22315 Mace as I said is a part of the fruit and where they sell the fruit they should also have mace for sale.

I wonder if there is a way to stop the mildew before it develops.
