I think I found a way to get out of ALL EVENTS

Meaning, you will never have to attend a family event ever again. Or appointments, like doc appointments. It will have to be over the phone.
-No trying to figure out what to wear.
-No speed-washing dusty, fancy clothes you never wear just for one dumb event.
-No making small talk and smiling when all you wanna do is go home and make more money or watch YouTube.
-No hitching a ride with your parents so now you’re at their mercy and you are stuck there as long as they want to stay.
-No trying to use Google Maps to go by yourself so you can take off early, only to get lost on the way home.
-No dreading the month of June because that’s when all your nieces & nephews are winning school awards or 7-hour long Graduation ceremonies.
-The ability to finally enjoy Christmas because you love it without the Christmas Eve family event, and then the Christmas Day event.
The way out, is to not be available. And to be unavailable, is to be far away. Like in another state.
The apartment thing will be like a short-term trial period to see if I do ok on my own, which I know I will. I want my cats to live out the rest of their lives having some fun, like back home, going outside a little (safely) and just having all the stuff they don’t have here.
But after that, it’s Myrtle Beach, baby.
That place has been calling my name ever since I stepped off the plane for the very first time.
It felt like home and I don’t know why.
And no more events!!!
I love my family. But that doesn’t mean I love the useless events attached to them.
Do you enjoy family events? Or do you dodge them?
I won’t judge either way. I know everyone is different.
I’ll just say it. I HATE them. All of them.

I am not available.
Haven't been for 20 years
No intention of being available ever again
I cannot stand family events, never could ever since I was a young boy
Family events suck.

I like them. I haven't been to any with my extended family for a long time though. I mostly see my parents, sis, bro and law and nephew (s). I was in Myrtle Beach at the end of March. Lots to do there, pretty affordable. Do you have a job lined up?

My job is stationed in the U.K., and I work with 5 other countries including U.S.
The only thing I would need to do, is inform them of the move, the I.P. change, and then probably go through 10,000 security checks proving I am who I say I am and not a bot.
But I won’t be making any big moves to M.B. until my 2 cats live out their lives here in MI. They just turned 17.
Oh crap, I just remembered Sonny. My mom’s cat that is only 9 and seems to think he is mine. Oh boy that’s a problem.
I’ll figure something out.
Thanks snowy and lucky you! Myrtle Beach in March… my idea of Heaven.

We were a very small family and always had a good time together, I am now all alone so there are no more family events of any kind in my future,

I love family events, getting to see everyone, and spending quality time with them, but I don’t like being locked in to being required to stay for lengthy periods of time. So family gatherings can be positive and negative for me. Luckily for me, I live far enough away from all my family that I’m not expected to attend every family function.

Do you miss them on purpose? And if so, please tell me your strategy. I can’t come up with anything good, and I’m not allowed to play sick anymore.
Thanks The Horse
