Stayed home today, and got some cleaning done. I was out in the garage where I can smoke...talking to my friend on the phone, when one of the feral cats came out from the lean to...and a dang Mocking bird was chasing him. I shooed the Mocking Bird away, but he came back and was on the ground right in front of me..raising his wings at me and had kind of a growl going on. I growled back at him..He came closer to me with his wings out and growling. The cat went and sat under my van. I was sitting on my walker and stood up growling back at the bird, and he flew up to the power lines, and we did this arguing back and forth for a while. The cat, Patch, finally left and the bird followed him. Later Blackie showed up and that stupid bird was chasing HIM. I kept arguing with him..fed Blackie under my van, and got my fly swatter. The bird kept coming back, but once I slapped that fly swatter on the ground, he left. He came back, but kind of pretended to be finding food..no growling, but a chirp that sounded like he was still mad. Anyway, Blackie finally got up, got him some water under the lean to and left. The bird shut up and left...No idea why the birds around here especially the Mocking birds and the BlueJays are always chasing the squirrels and the cats. None of them are bothering the birds that I have seen. Most of the cats are kind of lazy and a little older. The Mocking birds seem to be real Drama Queens. I thought Blue Jays were bullies...NOPE..Mocking birds have them beat in that area. Tom's B-day is tomorrow, and we had steak, backed potato and corn on the cob tonight to celebrate.

That's amazing that the bird would sit there growling at you! I must look up mocking bird. I have no idea how big they grow.

The Blue Jay is bigger than that Mocking Bird. The MB struts around..pecking at the ground and then fans his wings out as if he is saying...Look at me....and that happens all day long. When he is mad he screeches, then lets out like a growl sounding chirp. His ego is ten times as big as he is. The other MB do not act so boldly, and are rather quiet...just this ONE MB that THINKS he/she is in charge.

@Ghostlady I looked them up. They are pretty enough but not really anything special.

That one bird is the only one who acts like that. All the other Mocking Birds just go about their business. THIS one..when he is pecking at stuff and eating he will spread out his wings..Wide. The other Mocking Birds just kind of open their wings like they are shrugging...HE raises his wings like "Look at ME!"

It might have a nest nearby. We had barn sparrows that would chase one cat.
