Decided to retry Vocational Rehabilitation to see if I can return to work part-time, without it affecting my disability benefits. Because I am almost 60, I don't want to share the dates of my education. But FlexJobs won't allow users access to ExpertApply (streamlined "quick apply" feature) unless all dates are included on the profile. Despite age discrimination being illegal, it still exists, and posting the dates would reveal my age. Thankfully, one can apply without using ExpertApply, but that's not the point. A job board like this should not be engaging in age discrimination of any kind.

Oh age discrimination exists alright I have been honest in filling in my dates and have never even got as far as an interview for some part time jobs I applied for. So next time I might not put dates in and see what happens Mind you, when they see me if ai get an interview, they can still.discriminate and not give me a job anyway. I am 64

I first experienced it about 18 years ago when I was 40.

@Chellezhere I went to see a workplace I never even got an interview for and there was nobody over 40 in the place. I'm guessing they think that younger people work better, harder and longer. But when they start producing babies and need maternity and paternity leave they best not complain about it coz they could have had me working for them

@Ineeddentures When I was in my late 30s, I went to what I thought was a job interview at AOL, but turned out to be an open house. There were three caucasian applicants—all over 35, and nine of other races—all under 30. We three over 35 were the first told we did not fit AOL's needs.

you're right. it's here too and in person, which is even uglier. it means our age is more important than our knowledge and experience. so low.

Yep, in person and online—they discriminate. It's a shame.

@grenery8 I'm legally blind. Less than 30% of legally blind and totally blind job seekers over age 50 actually find work.

Thanks. I'm not really sure I want to get one, but none of us is supposed to live on Social Security alone, so I figured I could try.

Can you report them somewhere? Is it illegal for them to do this?

I can do that on FlexJobs, I just can't use their ExpertApply feature. Principally that sucks.
