Bayeux - I like it.

This little house we’ve rented in Bayeux (of tapestry fame) is a wee gem. It’s just a 20 minute walk into the centre of town where the nursing home my brother resides in is - that’s why we’re here.
The house is in a hyper calm area with no noise, in a street that cars can’t really get to. It has four separate garden areas all in lawn and very well kept.
The downside of the town, which is not big, is that it is made dreadful with tourists. English and American people come here to see the beaches of Normandy where allied troops landed on D Day (6 June 1945) and then fill the cafés and restaurants with loud talking.
It was lovely this afternoon, late on, to sit in a pavement café drinking excellent beer in the warm sunshine once we found an establishment not dominated by tourists.
The city of Rennes where we spent some time first was very different. It has little to attract tourists, and last night we spent quite a while sitting in a café, again in the sunshine, with cold French beers before repairing to a really good restaurant for dinner and not a word of English was heard.

Sounds like the Highlands in Scotland.
Finding anywhere tourist free is almost impossible in the high season.

I hope your brother is OK. That's a lovely view. I'm glad you like your house. Coincidence: One of the questions on Jeopardy today was about the Bayeau Tapestry.
