Is seat 11A the safest on a plane?

The lone survivor of the Air India air crash was a passenger that sat on seat 11A and many argue it is the safest number on a plane. Other people disagree and even point out that the lower end of an aircraft remains the safest place to sit. What is your opinion on this issue?

The number was not the same according to which aircraft model. We choose the two seats on the side of the emergency exit doors.
We were frequent flyers we could choose those seats before the others and we always booked several weeks in advance.

I find this discussion fascinating! While the idea that seat 11A is the safest spot is interesting, I think it's more about circumstances than seat numbers. Studies suggest that passengers seated near the rear of an aircraft tend to have better chances of survival in a crash, but of course, every accident is different.
I personally lean toward sitting near the tail when possible—just in case! However, I also value comfort, so I usually prioritize a window seat or extra legroom. Safety is important, but so is enjoying the flight!

I agree with you completely. In some situations, the front or middle seat may be the safest place depending on where the accident takes place or where the impact is most felt on the plane.

That's true. The safest places are towards the tail or end of the plane.

@ogbenishyna44 I am glad I have survived air travel so far. To quote the great Warren Zevon, I am too old to die young, but I am too young to die now."

Rather a sily question since not all aircraft have seats numbered the same way. Different airlines use different configurations. Therefore 11A could be in many different areas.
