Do you usually buy in wholesale or retail?

I usually buy both wholesale and retail. I buy rice in bulk, one sack good for three months' consumption for four people at home. My brother-in-law is a seaman, and when he goes back to his overseas work, we only buy in retail. The other products for wholesale buying include cooking oil, good for one month of usage the rest retail buying. Indeed, we can save time and money in wholesale buying.
Wholesale buying is mostly done by big-time businessmen.

Buying in bulk can save us much. I buy things that have longer shelf live in bulk too. Though for things that have a short life span, I would only buy the amount that can last for a week. I would usually go to the grocery on a weekly basis. I just see to it that I have stocks on hand.

@ARIES1973, indeed we can save much money time, and energy if buy in bulk things that are necessary and don't get spoilt easily. I usually do marketing once a week, too.

I have rarely bought anything in Wholesale.
Some people do go to special Wholesale shops and buy things.
I buy from retailers.
Sometimes, we do buy Oil and Rice or Wheat Flour in bulk but not in Wholesale.
Wholesale is a completely different and specialized Business here as well.

We do a bit of both.
Mostly retail but me and a friend also go to a wholesale outlet for bulk buying certain things as it is cheaper than retail and we get free delivery
I think buying Rice in bulk is a good idea
I might think about that as we do use quite a lot of rice as I cook a lot of curry
