Jane Austen's Emma mini series from 2009

And, of course, based on a book by Jane Austen. Not sure is this the 3rd or the 4th time I am watching it. It comes in 4 parts. I also think maybe Austen is hiding behind Emma, the main character who is a matchmaker for everyone, tries hard to be but can't see who is suitable for her and actually is not that good in matchmaking yet won't confess that to herself until the very end. In real life, were you more of a matchmaker or people tried matchmaking for you, if i may ask? Very jolly cast and a plot. I've watched many adaptations of this book but this feels dear to me, maybe cause I find the main lead, ex husband of A.Jolie here charming and in real life before too; Jonny Lee Miller. Actress, as well, Romola Garai. The message of the series/movie/book Emma for me is trying to see things under your nose first; your emotions, affairs, everything and not meddling too much into people's lives if you're not actually helping them. Love, what to say...

I remember trying to match up two people at work. They eventually got married.

@grenery8 That's a shame. Good girls make good wives.

Never read about it. But I have heard it so many times since when I was young and I saw it on libraries and bookstores.

if they are not invited, i agree. if i want an advice, i should ask for it but i like better deciding on my own. i didn't liek the part when she advised her female firend to say no to a man who was poor. i mean, she liked him, for heaven's sake.

@grenery8 Can't turn someone down because they are poor. That's just being a snob

I haven't read the book or watched the series, but I like the lesson: "to see things under your nose first, your emotions."

o, thank you. it is precisely like that; we should look inside oursleves first. it's always easier to advice other people.

Never saw it. Doesn't sound like something I'd enjoy, though. Never been in to romance stuff.
