So, I get a call from a guy. He is interested in buying property in this area. Then he asks how much I would be willing to sell my property. Then he throws out some amounts. I tell him that it is not for sale. Oh, not right now, maybe 3 or 4 months maybe. I tell him it is not for sale in 3 or 4 months. It is not for sale ever. It won't be for sale until I'm dead! Okay, he says, thank you. *click* I hate it! Why can't they just take 'Not for sale' and go away? How about you guys? Any of you get these crazy calls?

And the stupid insurance calls. I just had some guy say he was 'state medicare insurance.' I tried to tell him that the State handles my insurance. He said: " I am state medicare insurance." "Well, then you should know that the State takes care of my insurance." I don't think he liked that... He hung up.

Maybe hoping you will sell it, not knowing you are probably not paying property taxes on it...

@ElicBxn Right, no property taxes have to be paid. It’s got a few acres to it, and housing developments are popping up around there.

@AmbiePam I'm going to give you some unsolicited 'legal' advice. I suggest that the land have signs posted "No Trespassing." I'm not an attorney, but if you remember I was sued. If it is posted "No Trespassing" even without a fence, it would be harder for someone who isn't in your father's church to sue if they just walked across the land, stepped on a 'very dangerous' pebble and 'broke their arm.' If your dad's church has something, maybe a 'revival' (don't know what kind of church it is) but that is different. Of course if there is something they use the land that isn't used for a building, it is up to him. Just trying to protect your dad in the sense of idiots in this sue-happy times we live.

The guys who bought the house next door to clean up and remodel would like to put a green house on part of my property, and open a business raising succulents. They do not live here, but have a nice acreage just outside of town, and a horse boarding business in Wichita. I was all for it at first, but I think they bit off more than they could chew AND they overstepped their bounds on something. Have not seen them to talk to in over a year. When they are here they just mow and get the heck out. Most people do not want to buy in this wide spot in the road.

I get it, I think the original neighbors were not happy when they opened up the area and suddenly had more ways out of it. The original owner who lived next door I suspect downsized with his son out of college and stuff. Honestly , this was probably a really nice quiet area in the early 1970s when my house was built. And my house was one of the last ones, so that means probably a good number were built in the late '60s.

I get flyers in my mailbox, easy to ignore, and if they're only printed on one side, a free source of scrap paper.

You get anything only printed on one side? The only times I get something like that is in insurance stuff and they always have "This page left intentionally blank."

@ElicBxn The flyers are half-letter size and show "hand printing" as if it's just my house they're interested in.

@BarBaraPrz there was a point after the roommate moved in that she would get notes about wanting to buy her car. One guy even rang the doorbell, back when she was working nights. "Is that your car on the street?" "No." "Do you know who owns it?" "Yes." "Are they interested in selling it?" "No."

@Ineeddentures I will have to research if the iPhone has something like it. I wouldn't mind calls from people in my 'phone book' but I would love to have the rest stopped!

Well, I guess Austin is a big enough market. I suspect some they want to do minimum repairs to and then rent it. Tough...

I try, sometimes they just don't take 'No' for an answer.
