Operation: Clean Tank is a Go!

Today’s the day I finally get around to cleaning my aquarium. I’ve been procrastinating a bit—okay, a lot—but the algae situation is getting out of hand. It’s practically staging a takeover of the plants! So, armed with my scraper and a bit of determination (and maybe a grumble or two), I’m ready to dive in—figuratively, of course. Anyone else here keep an aquarium? How often do you clean yours, and do you ever feel just a little too lazy to get started?

It's funny you wrote that. I am ordering some aquarium stones from Amazon. They are in my cart right now!

When you love having one, you should also enjoy maintaining it; otherwise, you will not enjoy it as much.

We had aquariums but not now Yes. Cleaning an aquarium is a boring job but once it is done you foget what you have gone through seeing the results.

It's true that cleaning can be the most difficult task at first, but once I get going, I find that I enjoy the process. There's something strangely satisfying about getting rid of that algae, even though it can be tiresome at times. It's worth it when I see the results after everything is clear again because every time I pull them out, a clump comes away. Ultimately, witnessing the change is genuinely fulfilling and pleasurable.

@rsa101 This applies to every kind of cleaning we do in our day to day life. Our garden was unrecognizable what with rotten jack fruits and other rotting leaves spread all over. We engaged someone to do it and now it is such a joy taking strolls

My son had once but when he found out that cleaning it requires a lot of effort, he decided to sell it. Personally, I haven't tried having my own aquarium.

A lot of upkeep is necessary to keep everything in balance when owning an aquarium. If you believe that it will always look pristine.

I've never had an aquarium. I'm sure I'd be terrible at keeping it clean. I'm also sure that you'd feel much better once you had finished cleaning it.

Doing this weekly before and now every other week has become part of my routine already; I enjoy doing it in the end.

@rsa101 That's good. Once it becomes a habit, then it's not such an imposition.

Nefire we did clean our aquarium once a month but when it looks too murky we clean it right away.

Algae would flourish in an aquarium if cleanings were spaced far apart. Although algae can be beneficial to the ecosystem, if you allow them to take over, especially if you have plants, the plants will eventually suffocate and die. To enable my plants to grow healthily, I try to keep them as low as possible.

Thank God, I don't have one. I can't even have a general cleaning of my room, let - an aquarium. But they say that aquariums deflect bad luck, so keep at it. Good luck.

I have had them for many years already. I enjoy seeing them, and they are a really good way to destress me too. Even though cleaning may seem like a tedious chore, I find that it can be challenging to begin because there seems to be a lot to do, but once you get into it, you will enjoy it.
