Two of my co-workers and I had no students for a 1/2-hour span the other day. So we got together in one of the lessons rooms and did a 12-bar blues jam. One of the other guys is mostly an acoustic (non-electric) player, like me, while the other guy is mostly speed metal electric player. It was fun combining the two traditions We sang a mixture of Robert Johnson's Crossroads and Mose Allison's You Mind is on Vacation. The highlight for me was hearing a "scorching lead" over a simple 12-bar blues progression. Cream's famous version of Crossroads is actually in A, while we stuck to E, but it doesn't really doesn't matter. Oh oh.@FourWalls, can you guess which Three Dog Night tune just popped into my head?
Anyway,do you ever have spontaneous "sessions" with your mates, whether it be music, cooking, quilting, sharing poems, or whatever?

Nope, the closest I come to jamming is when I cook up my rhubarb with strawberries.

@TheHorse Probably. I just make a small batch and leave it in the (small) pot until it's all gone.

I’m usually a loner in my old age.

I'm glad you had a spontaneous jam session. No, the only two "friends" I have here are the cousins. My two long-time friends are in Minnesota and London, England. All the rest of my friends are here and on Facebook.
