Chased by a jumentous whiff.

I’ve just spent an uncomfortable hour in the local library doing what I do best - idle travel surfing, looking for cheap flights to places I’ll never go. At the computer on my right was a man who hummed incessantly and drummed his fingers on the desk. To my left was a man from whom emanated a strong, jumentous whiff - pee. He really did smell like a stable of horses. He looked clean and well-presented, but boy did he stink. In the end I left partly because I was becoming most irritated with Mr Noisy and Mr Smelly, but also because I was concerned that anyone passing close to us might have concluded that it was I who stank. And then there was Miss Shrieky who couldn’t get the photocopier to work. And someone had uncontrollable hiccups. Am I unreasonable expecting a bit of hush and breathable air in the library?

Sounds like you were at a meeting of the local Mr Men appreciation society. Who were you, Mr Grumpy?

I'm sorry your library visit was so uncomfortable. I worked in the library during my school years and found it heavenly. I actually considered making it my career.

sounds like a symphony of distractions, humming, drumming, hiccupping, and an unfortunate scent to top it all off

That's a very awkward situation isn't it? There's no polite way to tell people they smell.
