Sergeant Darrell Grooms who is employed by the Richmond County Sheriff's Office (RCSO) was on patrol near the Lock and Dam Park's Baurle Boat Ramp near Augusta Regional Airport on Father's Day when he saw Glenn Wright Sr. struggling to stay afloat in the Savannah River.
Officer Grooms suggested to Glenn to grab an overhanging branch when Glenn's son jumped into the river in an attempt to save his father when Glenn Junior made it as far as a pillar in the river when Glenn Junior was in danger of going underwater. when Officer Grooms saved Junior by taking to the shore where a bystander named Anthony Caruso who was at the riverbank.
Then Officer Grooms rescued Glenn Senior by pulling him ashore where a stranger who did not to be identified threw a fishing net toward them to safety.

Do they know why Glenn Senior was in the water in the first place?
What was the guy Caruso doing at the waterside?

I have no idea other than they wanted to spend together in the area for Father's Day.

It seems that the waters in the river were dangerous, as the boy quickly got into trouble too.
It was good that both father, and son, could be rescued without anyone else entering those treacherous waters. Some quick thinking there by the stranger worked well here.
