A strawberry and cream sandwich anyone .......

I have just seen that Marks and Spencers are offering a strawberry and cream sandwich for sale.
I know it is Wimbledon next week and maybe that has something to do the decision....but really !!!
On looking more closely, I see that it is not the usually everyday bread that they are using to make this sandwich....the label says ' sweetened bread '.....I am wondering if it is more like brioche, in which case it is more like a victoria sponge.
More of a cake than a sandwich really M & S

That's what I think of this .
It's not unusual though, Tom Jones told me that.
Strawberry and Cream Sandwiches have been on the go a long time
Think Scones, Clotted Cream and Jam.
There is a cafe in Carrbridge where we had tea one afternoon did a straw erry and cream sandwich which was basically a cake

it is only on closer inspection you see it is a sweet bread ....it generally just looks like a regular sandwich.
I am thinking scones, clotted cream and jam .......I have just put on 3 lb.....

Doesn't sound too bad. I like strawberries, so it's hard to mess up any dish with those in them.
Strawberry shortcake with ice cream would be better though. :)
