How do you overcome this situation?

So, I was replying to a friend's email when out of the blue, my brain just couldn't come up with a word that could express what was on my mind. My brain completely conked out. It scared me that this incident happened. Some people call it a mental block. I stopped writing and just lay in bed for a few hours. I fell asleep. When I woke up, I was fearful of resuming replying to the email, as I might not be able to think of the proper words again. I am glad it didn't happen during an actual conversation, or it could be embarrassing. Up to now, I still haven't replied to the email. What would you have done if this happened to you?

That happens to me all the time. I describe what I want to say instead of trying to remember the correct word I want. I KNOW the word... I just can't remember it. That's been happening to me for years and I ignore it now and just go on talking (Yes, it happens when I'm talking, too.) and don't worry about it.

Over the past couple of years this happens to me all the time now. I can't remember common words for things and I used to be a very good writer; but words often escape me now. I am 77.

@Jenaisle Some say I look in my 60s; but I'm approaching 80!!!!!!!! In my mind though I feel like I'm 22. I don't ever want to act like an old woman.

I can't think of the right terms sometimes whenever I have to reply to an email in the company. I have to be confident to my answers and think positive that they can understand what I have write to an email.

I don't know what is the issue? Getting mentaly blockis common among normal persons. But it's not permanent.

That actually happens to me a lot too. Out of nowhere, my mind just goes blank and I lose the words—even when I know exactly what I want to say. It can be frustrating, and yes, a bit scary sometimes. When it happens, I usually step away and rest, just like you did. And honestly, I also feel hesitant to go back, afraid it might happen again. But it always passes. You’ll find the words when you’re ready—no pressure.

You're always giving sensible replies. It will work if I do it that way. Thanks for that insightful reply. Kudos to you.

There are umpteen ways in which what you want to say can be expressed. Change the style and you will be presented with so many different ways I will give you an example If I want to say " Your brain works well" but the word brain escapes me. I can put that expression by saying "You are clever I say".

Yes, that's a good method. But no matter how I tried to think of an alternative word to use, I just couldn't at the moment. The word I was struggling to remember was "poignant". Anyway, thanks for a good recommendation. I appreciate it.
