Abandon Ship

Earlier this week, Mylotter friends, I posted about my former general manager at Goodwill quit a month ago. Well, fast forward to this week, when both my assistant manager and only quit this past Wednesdays. We have no managers or keyholders. We're a sinking ship staying afloat. I don't know why Fulton quit, though he was interviewed for the manager's job. Maybe he didn't want it. He was the nicest person and cool sometimes. I last saw him a week ago. And I've known him for 10 months, when he was Keyholder before he moved up to assistant manager earlier this year. As for Makyala, she's another story. She might be the slowest and laziest person there, though she's pregnant. She did originally quit two months ago, since she wanted a part-time Keyholder position, when it was only full-time. Then she returned and lasted two more months as a part-time Keyholder, with her schedule being slightly changed. I knew she would quit around October since she lived a half-hour away from my store this fall. And I last saw her on Monday morning during my break. For the time being, we've gotten the same interim manager from the Northfield store this summer, until we hire new replacements by August at the latest. This week, we had two keyholders from the Tallmadge store, and one assistant manager from Lexington. Next week, it would be Streetsboro. I don't know anything about that. I've heard that the stores would be closed on Thursdays, starting next week,, though we'll still work there to gain our hours. And we'll be downstairs presorting clothes and maybe wares. I'm not sure if I'll be running carts and pulling inactive wares, even if we have no customers to sell to. I'll find out next week and let you know how it goes. And since it'll be 2.5 years since I've worked at Goodwill on Monday (happy anniversary to me!), I really think it might be time for me to leave by early fall. I'm still pretty much tired of other people quitting before me, when I've been wanting to abandon this sinking ship for almost a year. I've been trying real hard to find a job, when I've been getting push back and rejections with nos. I've had an interview from Burlington Coat Factory on Tuesday for the Cashier Associate position I'm waiting to hear back from via email, phone, or text.(Two months ago, I was passed on for the Retail sales Associate position when I had Danielle as a job coach. So I'm hoping I fared better by talking louder and clearer, and looking glammed up too.) And last month, I did receive an offer for a cashier/hostess job at a local small coffee shop for my last hostess interview. Though they're relocating to another location this fall with updated POS registers, I have to wait until September to start the job. But I'll start out as a busser/dishwasher until I can get more comfortable talking to people by being cashier and then barista. I only get paid $12.00. So if I don't get any offers in 2 months (the owner/manager will contact me in 8 weeks), I might have to take it for 15 hours a week. I'm hoping and praying for a miracle here. Stay tuned! I'll pop in tomorrow night when I'm back home from a special event at my local zoo. See you then.
