A couple approached my husband and I in the parking lot of the Dollar Store and told us their car is out of oil and could we buy them a couple quarts of oil. My husband bought the oil for them and they asked for the cash register receipt so he gave it to them. Later on we found out they had done the same thing several times with other shoppers. Then they would go into the store with the sales receipt and return the oil for a refund.

It's a shame we become cynical due to the scammers, when there may be truly needy people that we could help.

It is a shame that a couple scammed you with the story of being down on their luck.

Shameful! Such people make us loose trust in good deeds. No wonder, people hesitate to do something good for strangers in need.

There's lots of ways people use to collect money from people for fake charities, even to extremes like fake Go Fund Me accounts.
