Super Happy With This Month's Utility Bill

United States

It has been blazing hot and our a/c has been on what feels like non-stop. We turned the a/c on after the first week of May. June was exceptionally hot and July/August isn't going to get any better. But we don't keep our thermostat super low and we use ceiling and floor fans around the house to keep us cool. So for a 2400 sq ft home our gas and electric bill was only $117 this time. Has this heat wave spiked your utility bill?

We're on budget billing. I'll have to take a look the next time the bill comes in to see how it compares to last year. Your house is about as big as mine is.

Budget billing never worked for me. I ALWAYS had a massive settlement balance to pay.

@porwest @LindaOhio and they hold on to your money too long if you have an overpayment balance. Our friend has a $3,000 CREDIT balance on his utility bill that they're overcharged him on Budget Billing.

@porwest I always keep an eye on the balance on the back of the bill.

Surprisingly, my utility bill has been lower than it's been in a long time. I hope this is a trend that continues because not so long ago, it got way out of hand.

That is a good sum and not too much. I have everything included in my rent,

@looeyville no-one in Ireland has a/c - we usually get just one hottish day a year! What infuriates me is that the price of oil for the central heating has tumbled significantly but I have plenty and won’t need any more till fall when the price will have risen. There’s no winning. We haven’t needed to switch on furnace since beginning of May and hopefully it’ll be October before my wife realises!

The heat wave has cost my relatives and myself a lot of money.

We are back at about 16C again Scotland doesn't really get heatwaves.. Our energy bills are small anyway as our house is super eco insulated

Yeah, my bill is large because as you can imagine the weather stripping is nonexistent. It bums me out, but on the bright side, in the winter I can take the cold much better so my electricity bill is always very low then. But in the summer…it gets bad.

Our June was cool. I am heading to the pool now for a quick refresher, though.
