Gone But Not Forgotten: A Childhood Memory I’d Bring Back Today

Lately, I’ve been feeling nostalgic and it got me thinking: What’s something from your childhood that you really miss — something you wish still existed today? For me, it’s Saturday morning cartoons. There was something magical about waking up early, grabbing a bowl of cereal, and parking myself in front of the TV for hours of The Jetsons, Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, and Scooby-Doo. No streaming. No rewinding. Just you, the couch, and cartoons that only aired once a week. It felt special — like a weekly ritual that gave you permission to just be a kid. Nowadays, everything is on-demand. And while that’s convenient, I feel like it’s taken away the excitement and anticipation of waiting for your favorite show to come on. There was something pure and simple about how we enjoyed things back then. So now I’m curious… What’s something from your childhood you wish still existed? A toy? A food? A way of life? Maybe something totally random?

We did not have a TV. I liked to read. Reading opens up new worlds to get lost in. I miss rain on a tin roof and wading in a creek.

Back then we only have one television channel and accordingly my parents were allowed to watch ... Can't imagine how we are restricted and ask to go to sleep after 10. Movie times were only friday night

I think just being fancy free as a kid was probably the most fun I had. But you're right, Saturday morning cartoons was something you so looked forward to that I think kids nowadays, with 24/7 access to cartoons, really miss out on.
