Have You Ever Heard of Snot Loggers?

When I worked, of course, there was often a considerable amount of time spent in breakrooms with coworkers shooting the breeze, and of course, there was the occasional argument to be had. The conversations were the fodder of many things for me. Many of which, over the years, I have of course written about as they occasionally come to mind for whatever reason that the memory gets jogged. Like the term "snot loggers." The term was related during a story one coworker was telling of his grandpa who was a stickler for decorum at the dinner table. When guests served themselves there was a right way and a wrong way. Spoons, ladles, and tongs. Like for biscuits. There were tongs out for biscuits to be put onto your plate, according to him. On one such occasion, he said, his sister invited over her boyfriend for dinner, who proceeded to reach across the table to grab a biscuit... Without the provided tongs... At which point his grandpa tapped his fork upside down abruptly on the table and yelled at the boyfriend, "Get your biscuit grabbing snot loggers off that plate. Use the tongs!" Of course, I am sure the boyfriend was rather taken aback from the outburst. But when I heard the story... I burst out laughing.

That is funny!! And also brings back memories of my grandfather asking for someone to pass the "catheads." For all the northerner's out there, catheads is actually a southern term for homemade biscuits! They come out big and fluffy!

lol. Hey, germs are good for us. Keeps us from getting sick the more of 'em we're exposed to. But when I heard the term used then, that was the first time I'd heard it as well, and have not heard it since. Of course, the way a "snot logger" was described to me was that some people pick their nose and roll their boogers into "logs." I have no idea either. But that's how a snot logger was explained to me. lol Germs aside, if the boyfriend WAS logging boogers...I'd prefer he'd use the tongs as well.

@Ineeddentures Yuck is right. What's worse? Probably people to log them and then eat them.

That's funny! It's kind of comical in and of itself that in the olden days people were so wrapped up in formal table manners, such as not putting elbow on the table, using specific silverware for specific things, and so forth. I'm glad in some ways that things are somewhat more relaxed these days, because I am one of those guilty of grabbing biscuits without using the appropriate tongs! lol

Manners are for the well-refined prudes. I'd rather be unrefined and grunt like a caveman. lol
