Having to rewash the washing for the second time !!!

So, we had a whole whirleygig full of washing out in the garden drying beautifully in this glorious weather ....Some of the washing was for me to take back home at the weekend and some was The Misters work clothes for next week. Suddenly, in their stupidity , the builders next door started sawing something .....and ...WHOOSH !!! All the dust came bellowing over the fence straight onto the washing. All the washing will have to be washed again !!! It is the second time in as many weeks that this has happened. We did shout over the fence but they take no notice at all. Whilst we are aware, of course, that these things might happen , it would have been nice if they had shouted over to us or popped round to let us know. Now the washing has to be removed rewashed and the drier has to be wiped down and cleaned before any more washing is put on there. A big job for an 87 year old. It also means that we can't sit in the garden with all that dust about ....Mom has Asthma And we have to keep the windows closed .....its too hot for all that !

@traceyjayne Inconsiderate in the extreme. I’ve mentioned it before, but it’s worth repeating, that my young lay neighbour in my last house used to wash a load of her under panty things about every four weeks - that’s about 30ish delicates. She hung them on the whirligig in the garden - just her multi-coloured assortment of smalls - and when the wind picked up it looked like a happiness of butterflies fluttering about.

it must have been quite a sight .... questions though ...... why did she wait til so many needed washing ..... did she only wear underwear or did she just wash clothes in sets ...underwear one week, t shirts one week, trousers one week....

@Traceyjayne Well now, I’m not the kind of man who knocks on his neighbour’s door to enquire about the laundry routine she uses for her smalls. The question of why so many drawers at one time did however cross my mind.

It costs more to run a clothes dryer but you also don't have to worry about the neighbors doing something and messing up your laundry. We keep windows closed and air conditioner running all summer long. I'm sorry that happened.

@Traceyjayne For Americans, it's a pain not to have air conditioning to get away from the heat and high humidity here. We can always look out the window and see the garden growing. I've had skin cancer several times and prefer to stay out of the sun and sitting in a nice, cool room is heaven.

we don't have air conditioning ...some properties have it but usually in the UK its just shops and workplaces that have it. It is a pain not being able to sit in your own garden at the height of Summer.

not at all ....and with just a word from the builders it would not be needed.

There isn't that much you could do about it really . They should of course give you a bit of warning. That would piss me off to be quite honest Shouting over the fence won't cut the mustard.. Not being able to sit in the garden is not good and I really feel sorry for the mum

all we need is a knock on the door .... The new owners obviously haven't even moved in yet ...they are not making a very good impression !

@Traceyjayne Well they do need to get the work done I don't know what the solution would be I would need to see what they are doing before ai could suggest compromises
