Ways to Fight Extreme Heat's Affects on Your Body

You all know that I HATE hot weather. I wish it could be October all year around. My ideal temps are 50-70/75.
Thankfully this week we're getting a slight reprieve from extreme upper 90's F temps we had last week and we'll be around 85F all week. Still not great, but better than 95F. We are expecting little heat-related pop-up showers all week.
But there are things you can do to help prevent from getting sick due to hot weather:
STAY HYDRATED
Drink even more than you think you need, even if you're not thirsty. Water.
TAKE A COOL SHOWER OR BATH
KEEP A FAN HANDY
Fans can keep you cool by helping sweat to quickly evaporate from the body
KNOW WHERE YOUR CITY'S COOLING CENTERS ARE
If you don't have a/c or get overheated, many cities have designated "cooling centers" where you can recover
CHECK THE FORECAST
Don't plan on labor-intense gardening on high-heat days
WATCH THE HUMIDITY
Humidity is a killer in addition to the heat. The combination is deadly.
Researchers say that up to 2.8 percent of heart attack deaths may be attributed to the combination of high heat and air pollution.
There were 2,302 heat-related deaths in 2023. Most people who die from the heat are over the age of? 50.
On that note, I'm not going out today.

Three times in my I live I have suffered from heat exhaustion, throwing up, clammy and sweaty, couldn't breathe. It's awful. Extreme heat and I do not get along.

@LooeyVille Oh, I get it. I really do. I don’t complain about the winter because summer is so dreadful to me.

A little reprieve here as well. But you know I hate the cold weather. At the same time 75 all year round would be nice. The only caveat would be that in order for me to even think about getting in the pool the water temp has to be at least 82 and it better be hot enough out to make me even want to get wet. lol
As for dying in the heat, I am 52, so I will pay close attention to staying as cool and hydrated as I possibly can.

@looeyville Next week we’ll be looking after some of our grandchildren in England and the heat will be 80-90F. I wasn’t built for this.

Just now
I'm trying to get better about drinking more water; and I'm in the AC with the ceiling fan usually running.
