I've bored you with the ongoing saga of my difficult mother-in-law who is now slipping into senility.
She's in denial. She's deceitful. She's a hot mess.
But today, maybe, possibly, in theory . . . her employer (the millionaire that she is leaning on instead of us) is taking her to the Masonic Home for a visit.
Now this would just be for a regular apartment, not for assisted living or skilled care. But it's a step in the right direction getting her on the campus for when she needs to transition to a higher level of care.
There was some excuse last week as to why she didn't go.
I expect much wailing and moaning tonight when she calls to say it was terrible and an "old folk's home" and not up to her standard of living.
It's just before 10 am here now. Her appointment to see the place is at 3 pm this afternoon. So if you hear national news of a woman going ballistic in about 5 or 6 hours from now in Louisville, Kentucky, that would be my mother-in-law.
Crossing fingers.

Have you checked the state laws regarding what YOU can do “against her will” temporarily?
Good luck, definitely praying for the situation.

@looeyville That's an excruciating task you have. My wife visited her aunt today - 90 year old in a nursing home, and a truly sweet lady. But, at 90, she keeps wondering why her parents haven't come to visit her. Heart breaking.

Isn't it funny how a MIL will do something someone else suggests but not what you suggest? My in-laws were the same way.
